Microscope-integrated intraoperative OCT features
Optotune’s EL-10-30
A consortium of the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio has demonstrated a novel optical and mechanical design for a microscope-integrated intraoperative optical coherence tomography (iOCT) system.
Integration of Optotune’s electrically focus-tunable polymer lens allows rapid focal plane adjustment and iOCT imaging of both anterior and posterior segment tissue microstructures while maintaining parfocality with the ophthalmic surgical microscope. Integration of a head-up display (HUD) and projection of an aiming reticle onto the surgical microscope field allows precise intraoperative positioning for volumetric imaging of regions-of-interest.
Early studies show the potential for iOCT-guided maneuvers and clinical decision-making in ophthalmic surgery. Optotune’s tunable lens is the key enabling technology of this emerging field.
