Q3-2014 Newsletter
In 2014, Holo/Or is
celebrating 25 years of commercial diffractive optics
Approaching 600 unique diffractive designs, adoptable to any wavelength
with no NRE, Holo/Or holds the largest number of “off-the-shelf”
products in the industry! |
What's
new
HoloOr’s R&D team constantly
develops new capabilities, and manufactures new products. Here are a
few examples.
|
|
New capability – Multi-Spectral
(Polychromatic) Top Hat
Our standard
diffractive Top-Hat (TH) is manufactured for a specific wavelength.
When used with other wavelengths, TH performances are affected. For
applications requiring several wavelengths, Holo/Or developed a different
solution – a multi-spectral TH. The multi-spectral TH has the advantage
of working well with several wavelengths. Compared to standard TH, the
multi-spectral feature “cost” in a slight decreased accuracy in the TH
size and shape.
Below is a summary table comparing standard TH and Multi-Spectral TH:

New product line – Collimated Top-Hat
Holo/Or have
successfully finished an industrial project of collimated TH. We
offer our Collimated Beam-Shaper module For applications requiring a
well-defined beam (i.e. top-hat profile) over an extended working
distance range. Our module consists of lenses specially designed to
maintain a constant beam diameter output and Top-Hat profile, over
long propagation distance. The magnitude of this dynamic range
depends on factors as: wavelength, input beam size and output beam
size.

New product web pages for Top-Hat beam shaper and
Multi-Focal with new capabilities
Our upgraded
product pages enable optical designers and system engineers, to easily
find the closest design fiting their requirements, without going into
tedious calculations, among the changes, you can find:
- Wavelength selection – calculates
automatically the specs for all the designed DOEs.
- New filter - divergence angle, image
size, element size, image shape, # of foci, foci distance, etc.
- Datasheet generator that includes:
uniformity, efficiency, etc.
- “Availability” column that presents
which items are in stock.
Important notes:
- Elements classified as
“Semi-standard” (under the “Availability” column) do not require
NRE.
- Typical lead-time for a coated
standard / semi-standard element, which is not in stock, is 6
weeks (and only two weeks for uncoated element).

Dielectric mask (DM) – New designs
Dielectric
masks are Fused Silica substrates that have a very thin (~1um)
reflective coating pattern. The coated part reflects ~99% of the
incoming beam while the uncoated part transmits the beam. The output
in near field will be very close to the designed pattern. By using an
imaging lens with the output of the mask, image size and working
distance can be customized, as shown in the figure. The DMs are
mainly suitable for high power laser applications, thanks to their
high LDT.

|
|
Few applications:
1.
Narrowing
the transition region from a beam-shaper.
2.
Block
unwanted/parasitic/higher orders.
3.
Creating
any pattern that will be further imaged with a lens, with very low
diffractive effects.
